Fitting & Usage

Fitting of the authentic 9" Tudor Board (4.2m)

These tudor boards can be fitted quickly and being made of lightweight material, they are easier to handle too.

Countersink fixing holes using 16mm flat wood bit until the point starts to appear on the back. Our Peg Template can be used for accurate and consistent positioning of fixings.
Apply quickgrab adhesive evenly to back of plank and accurately on wall.
Drill through centre of countersunk hole using a 6.5mm masonry bit, to a depth of 100mm.
Screw with masonry anchor to pull plank secure to wall and repeat with remaining countersinks.
Glue mock pegs into countersunk holes using an adhesive or silicone.
Seal all edges using a good quality clear silicone to finish edges and prevent moisture penetration.
Touch-up paint can be used on exposed cuts to prevent UV degradation.

Typically, the following tools and materials are required for fitting:

Quick grab adhesive - for back of boards
Clear silicone - for sealing edges, joints and board pegs
7.5mm x 100mm Masonry screws - 10 fixings per 4.2m board
Authentic mock tudor board pegs - 1 per fixing (basic screw cover caps could be used)
Cordless drill with 16mm flat wood bit - for countersinking if using pegs
Hammer drill with 6mm masonry bit - for pilot hole into wall

As a general rule, two screws should be used at the ends of these 150mm (6") planks and where another abutts. One central fixing can be used in the middle of adjoining planks.

Delivery

SHIPPING

We endeavour to despatch most orders within 1 working day. Where possible, orders received before 1:00pm may be despatched the same day. Accurate despatch times are available on individual product pages.

Most orders (those being stock items below 1.2m in length) will be despatched same day when ordered before 1pm, and received the following delivery day. We deliver items of that size from Monday to Saturday. Stock items over 1.2m are sent using a two-day carrier, who do not deliver on a weekend.

Due to the size and nature of some bespoke, and non-stock products, we offer restricted delivery options. Delivery options can be selected at the checkout page before payment Is made.

DELIVERY AND RETURNS

Any dates quoted for delivery of the goods are approximate only and Truly PVC shall not be liable for any direct, indirect or consequential loss suffered by the customer arising from any delay in the delivery of the goods.

All deliveries must be received, and where appropriate, signed for, by a person over the age of 18 years old.

Delivery takes place, and risk passes to you, at the earliest of the following:

When the goods are handed over to you or your agent at Truly PVC’s premises.
When the goods leave the premises of Truly PVC.
On the 7th day after you have been notified that the goods are ready for despatch.

Customers should notify us within 7 days of the invoice date for any alleged defect, damage, failure to comply with description, missing items, or discrepancies. If no notification is made within this period, the goods are deemed accepted and free from defect.

Customers are responsible for obtaining any necessary licences or permissions for importing goods into their country of destination.

Long Lengths (over 1.2m)

For any product over 1.2m in length we cannot guarantee a ‘Next Day’ delivery service. Products over 1.2m have to be manually handled in some Depots and this can often add 1 – 2 days to the delivery time.

DELIVERY PROHIBITIONS

Orders for aerosol items, items over 1m, or deliveries to remote locations (e.g., Scottish Highlands, offshore islands, Northern Ireland) may not be fulfilable or may incur a surcharge.

Should this be the case, we will contact you with the option of either paying the surcharge or cancelling the order. Remote postcodes include AB30-AB38, AB40-AB56, BT, FK17-FK21, G83, GY, HS, IM, IV, JE, KA27-KA28, KW, PA20-PA99, PH, TR21-TR25, ZE.

How do I measure and install Tudor boards?

Measure your wall or existing board layout first, then fix boards to a clean, sound surface using masonry screws, adhesive and sealant at the edges.

Clean the wall to remove dirt and debris and repair any loose brickwork, fitting battens first if you're using them. Lay boards out on the ground to plan the arrangement, then mark guidelines on the wall with a spirit level. Cut boards to size, drill pilot holes and fix with masonry screws and wall plugs, or screw into battens if fitted, adding construction adhesive for extra support if needed. Finish with corner trims where required and seal all joints and edges with an exterior grade sealant.

How do I cut Tudor boards?

Tudor boards can be cut with a fine-toothed hand saw or jigsaw, then finished with touch-up paint on any exposed cut edges.

Mark your measurements with a pencil and spirit level before cutting, and support the board fully along its length to avoid chipping the edge. Once cut, smooth the edge if needed, seal it with clear silicone, and apply touch-up paint to the cut face to protect it against UV discolouration and moisture getting in.

How should I fix Tudor boards, and how many fixings do I need?

Tudor boards are fixed with masonry screws, around 10 fixings per 4.2m board, with the screw heads hidden under matching pegs.

As a general rule, use two screws at the end of each board and wherever one board abuts another, with a single central fixing between. Our peg template can be used to keep fixing positions accurate and consistent across a run. Countersink fixing holes using a 16mm flat wood bit, drill through into the wall with a 6.5mm masonry bit to a depth of 100mm, then secure with a masonry anchor screw. Glue a peg into each countersunk hole with adhesive or silicone to hide the fixing and complete the authentic timber look.

What colours and finishes are available for Tudor boards?

Tudor boards are available in Black, Rosewood, Golden Oak and Anthracite Grey, with the uPVC range also offering Light Oak plus smooth Slate Grey and Dark Grey finishes.

Our polyurethane boards, across all widths, come in four woodgrain colours with a textured oak finish. The uPVC board is available in matching woodgrain shades (Light Oak in place of Golden Oak) plus two smooth finishes, Slate Grey and Dark Grey, and can be colour matched to standard uPVC window and roofline products. Pegs are available in Black (packs of 10 or boards of 64) and Brown, and touch-up paint is available in Black, Brown, Rosewood and Golden Oak to protect and colour match any cut edges.

How long do Tudor boards last?

Tudor boards are built to last, backed by a 15 year guarantee across our polyurethane board range and a 10 year guarantee on our uPVC board.

The uPVC range has a working life of over 40 years and is 100% recyclable up to 10 times. Both ranges are weather and UV stable so they won't crack, bubble or discolour over time, and need no repainting or staining, just an occasional wipe down with a soft cloth to keep them looking new.
