Durable single-walled uPVC plastic replacement rafter top caps for older Ultraframe Classic conservatory roofs. Includes capings for intermediate transoms (also suitable for Victorian hips), and Georgian hips.

Conservatory rafter top caps are exposed to some extreme weather conditions, which over time can take their toll. The cappings can loose compression, become cracked, and the rubber that seals the top of the glazing material can break down. Such conditions can lead to water ingress, and leaks within your home. Replacing failed top cappings can be a relatively low-cost solution, that will help you enjoy your room once.

IMPORTANT Always check suitability before purchase, as although cappings may appear similar to cappings of other manufacturers, there is no assurance that they will lock securely into other bars, nor that they will provide the required water seal compression.

>Choosing the Right CAPA Number

Before purchasing, we recommend that you check compatibility. These cappings are manufactured by Ultraframe for their older conservatories, and their Series 5, 6, and 7 glazing bars. To identify your conservatory roof system, refer to any installation paperwork, and compare the profile of your bar and capping. Manufacturer part numbers may also be printed on the underside of the capping.

The measurement of an existing capping can help identify the cappings used, but please consider that there can be variance due to expansion and contraction of the material. The length of side angle is the most reliable measurement. Please also consider that changing the glazing thickness, may affect the capping suitability.

Fitting & Usage

Fitting the Ultraframe Glazing Bar Top Caps

Once cut to length using an electric chop saw, or fine toothed handsaw, the capping can be easily fitted to the aluminium glazing bar upstand, without any special tools. Simply align the end of the capping with the end of the bar, and knock hooked legs of the capping into the barbed aluminium upstand. The upstand features multiple locking points, which accommodate different glazing thicknesses, and allows watertight compression of the top capping flapper seal against the glazing material.

How to Remove Existing Cappings

Removal of existing cappings can be difficult, but there are tools and methods that will help. The top capping legs, which lock into the aluminium glazing bar, will need to be unhooked. The Ultraframe Glazing Bar Capping Removal Tool can really help with this, as it features two vertical blades that insert into the end of the bar to release the legs, and then allow an upwards motion to pull the capping out.

* Long nose pliers, or two flat screwdrivers, can be used in absence of the removal tool. A gasket that may have become stuck to the glazing material can be freed by running a putty knife, or similar, up the length of the capping.

We endeavour to despatch most orders within 1 working day. Where possible, orders received before 1:00pm may be despatched the same day. Accurate despatch times are available on individual product pages.

Most orders (those being stock items below 1.2m in length) will be despatched same day when ordered before 1pm, and received the following delivery day. We deliver items of that size from Monday to Saturday. Stock items over 1.2m are sent using a two-day carrier, who do not deliver on a weekend.

Due to the size and nature of some bespoke, and non-stock products, we offer restricted delivery options. Delivery options can be selected at the checkout page before payment Is made.

DELIVERY AND RETURNS

Any dates quoted for delivery of the goods are approximate only and Truly PVC shall not be liable for any direct, indirect or consequential loss suffered by the customer arising from any delay in the delivery of the goods.

All deliveries must be received, and where appropriate, signed for, by a person over the age of 18 years old.

Delivery takes place, and risk passes to you, at the earliest of the following:

When the goods are handed over to you or your agent at Truly PVC’s premises.
When the goods leave the premises of Truly PVC.
On the 7th day after you have been notified that the goods are ready for despatch.

Customers should notify us within 7 days of the invoice date for any alleged defect, damage, failure to comply with description, missing items, or discrepancies. If no notification is made within this period, the goods are deemed accepted and free from defect.

Customers are responsible for obtaining any necessary licences or permissions for importing goods into their country of destination.

Long Lengths (over 1.2m)

For any product over 1.2m in length we cannot guarantee a ‘Next Day’ delivery service. Products over 1.2m have to be manually handled in some Depots and this can often add 1 – 2 days to the delivery time.

DELIVERY PROHIBITIONS

Orders for aerosol items, items over 1m, or deliveries to remote locations (e.g., Scottish Highlands, offshore islands, Northern Ireland) may not be fulfilable or may incur a surcharge.

Should this be the case, we will contact you with the option of either paying the surcharge or cancelling the order. Remote postcodes include AB30-AB38, AB40-AB56, BT, FK17-FK21, G83, GY, HS, IM, IV, JE, KA27-KA28, KW, PA20-PA99, PH, TR21-TR25, ZE.

COLLECTION (from our Warehouse)

To collect your order, choose 'Collect in Person' as the shipping method. We will contact you if there is an issue preparing your order, so please provide a contact telephone number.

Stock items are usually available for collection 1 business day after ordering. For early collection or non-stock items (e.g., polycarbonate), please call 0161 339 4982.
