Precision-engineered by heat-fusing a ridge cap with a slate tile section, TapcoSlate Classic Ridge End Caps create a single integrated unit designed specifically to finish the gable end of a slate ridge. Eliminating complex on-site cutting and shaping, the pre-formed design ensures a consistent, watertight termination along the ridgeline. As a high-performance dry-fix alternative to mortar-finished ends, it protects the roof perimeter against wind uplift and driving rain while maintaining a clean, uniform ridge profile.

Fitting & Usage

The TapcoSlate Classic Ridge 90° End Cap closes and weatherseals the open end of a ridge run at a gable. Available in pitch ranges of 25–29°, 30–34°, and 35–40°. It is fixed in the same manner as standard ridge caps and receives a standard Classic Ridge Cap over the top in the standard fixing position.

Preparation

Select the correct pitch variant before ordering. Ensure the ridge cap run is complete and that end battens and/or truss material are sound before fitting. Where the roof pitch falls outside the available ranges, use the alternate cut-slate method described below.

Application

Fix the end cap to battens using two 3" (76mm) galvanised or stainless steel clout nails or outdoor Phillips Bugle screws
Place a standard Classic Ridge Cap over the end cap at the correct exposure — maximum 7½" (191mm), or minimum 6" (152mm) in high-wind/driving-rain locations
Fix through the cap below using two fixings, one either side; cover exposed fastener heads with butyl-based sealant
If no pre-formed cap suits the pitch, cut a standard TapcoSlate to a triangle or diamond shape, nail to end battens/truss, and seal with butyl or bitumen sealant — alternatively bond with strong epoxy glue per manufacturer's instructions

Health & Safety

Use appropriate access equipment and follow working-at-height regulations
At gable positions, maintain a safe working distance from the roof edge at all times
Caps can be slippery when wet — take care during installation

Additional Remarks

Do not use silicone sealant at any joint — use butyl or bitumen only, as silicone will invalidate the warranty
Do not leave the ridge run open overnight — fit end caps or temporary weatherproofing at the close of each working day
Do not use red chalk when setting out — blue chalk only, as red chalk can stain the product

Delivery

SHIPPING

We endeavour to despatch most orders within 1 working day. Where possible, orders received before 1:00pm may be despatched the same day. Accurate despatch times are available on individual product pages.

Most orders (those being stock items below 1.2m in length) will be despatched same day when ordered before 1pm, and received the following delivery day. We deliver items of that size from Monday to Saturday. Stock items over 1.2m are sent using a two-day carrier, who do not deliver on a weekend.

Due to the size and nature of some bespoke, and non-stock products, we offer restricted delivery options. Delivery options can be selected at the checkout page before payment Is made.

DELIVERY AND RETURNS

Any dates quoted for delivery of the goods are approximate only and Truly PVC shall not be liable for any direct, indirect or consequential loss suffered by the customer arising from any delay in the delivery of the goods.

All deliveries must be received, and where appropriate, signed for, by a person over the age of 18 years old.

Delivery takes place, and risk passes to you, at the earliest of the following:

When the goods are handed over to you or your agent at Truly PVC’s premises.
When the goods leave the premises of Truly PVC.
On the 7th day after you have been notified that the goods are ready for despatch.

Customers should notify us within 7 days of the invoice date for any alleged defect, damage, failure to comply with description, missing items, or discrepancies. If no notification is made within this period, the goods are deemed accepted and free from defect.

Customers are responsible for obtaining any necessary licences or permissions for importing goods into their country of destination.

Long Lengths (over 1.2m)

For any product over 1.2m in length we cannot guarantee a ‘Next Day’ delivery service. Products over 1.2m have to be manually handled in some Depots and this can often add 1 – 2 days to the delivery time.

DELIVERY PROHIBITIONS

Orders for aerosol items, items over 1m, or deliveries to remote locations (e.g., Scottish Highlands, offshore islands, Northern Ireland) may not be fulfilable or may incur a surcharge.

Should this be the case, we will contact you with the option of either paying the surcharge or cancelling the order. Remote postcodes include AB30-AB38, AB40-AB56, BT, FK17-FK21, G83, GY, HS, IM, IV, JE, KA27-KA28, KW, PA20-PA99, PH, TR21-TR25, ZE.

COLLECTION (from our Warehouse)

To collect your order, choose 'Collect in Person' as the shipping method. We will contact you if there is an issue preparing your order, so please provide a contact telephone number.

Stock items are usually available for collection 1 business day after ordering. For early collection or non-stock items (e.g., polycarbonate), please call 0161 339 4982.
