Trojan Sparta Inline Lever/Pad Door Handles from Yale
(Choice of 5 popular finishes)
Standard lever operation with pad styling!
Stylish sprung door handle set with pad handle to outside, and lever to inside. Features short backplate with reversible handles that are suitable for left or right hung doors of 44mm to 75mm thickness, and common 92PZ measurement. Manufactured by Yale to provide outstanding performance.
These inline lever/pad handles use a single spindle that is operated by both the lever from the inside, and the pad from the outside. They can therefore be used as a direct replacement of existing lever/lever handles. Having a single spindle, rather than two offset or two inline, means that the pad will operate like a normal lever, allowing an unlocked door to be opened without a key.

Fitting & Usage
How to check that these handles will fit your door
Measuring your existing handle correctly, will help you determine whether this handle will fit your door. There are three main sizes to take into consideration when measuring your door handle.
- Measure the distance between the centre of the handle, and the centre of the cylinder barrel. This length is called the PZ measurement, and should equal 92mm for these handles to be suitable.
- Measure the distance between the centre of your top screw, and the centre of your bottom screw, which should be 122mm.
- A less important measurement is the overall length of your existing backplate, which is 212mm for this handle.
These handles can be used as a direct replacement to handles that use a single solid spindle. However, if you’re replacing handles that use inline split spindles, and would like to retain the security of the external pad requiring key for entry, then you would need to replace the solid spindle supplied, with a split spindle. This handle should not be used as a replacement to the two spindle offset handles.
How to fit the Yale Sparta Lever/Pad Handles
The Yale Sparta Lever/Pad door handles can be fitted quickly and easily, as the following summary demonstrates.
- Start by removing existing handles from the door. Simply remove any screws (normally visible on the internal backplate) and pull apart.
- Choose which of the supplied screw sizes should be used with the spindle. If fitting to narrower composite or wooden doors, you may need to cut down with a hacksaw.
- Swing handles to the correct side of the backplate for fitting to your door. The handle with screw holes mush be fitted to the inside, and the pad handle to the outside.
- Insert the supplied spindle into the external handle, and fit spring cassettes into the handle backplates, if not already fitted.
- With spindle fitted to external handle, feed spindle through the door and the lock mechanism inside. Push internal backplate into position with the spindle fed through the internal cassette.
- Place 2 screws provided through fixing holes and tighten.
- Check operation of handles before closing the door.
How to care for your handles
- To keep your handle looking great, wipe with very mild detergent or soap, then rinse with warm clean water, and drying with a soft cloth. Do not use abrasive, chemical or brass cleaners, wire brushes, scrubbers and wire wool etc.
- A light machine oil or a silicone spray lubricant can be used twice a year over moving parts, to keep things moving freely.
- From time to time, check that the screw fixings are tight, as the handle should remain fixed to ensure correct operation.
