Fitting & Usage

Fitting the Yale Neon Butt Hinge

New butt hinges can only be fitted when the door has been removed from the frame.

  1. Remove any hinge pin security screws that may prevent the pins form being removed. These are normally grub screws, which can usually be seen when the door is open at 90°.
  2. Once the grub screws are removed, remove the push in covers to reveal the top of the hinge pins, and ease the pins out with a flat screwdriver, or similar.
  3. The door can now be removed from the frame, to reveal hinge securing screws.
  4. Loosen the securing screws to allow the original hinges to be removed, and the new ones fitted in their place.
  5. Fit the new hinges, and the door to the frame, in the reverse order.

Please note that doors are heavy, so consider bear this in mind, and consider an extra pair of hands if necessary.

Lateral Adjustment of the Butt Hinge

The hinge allows horizontal adjustment of between -2mm to +2mm from it's central position. Adjustment of the door can usually be carried out whilst the door remains fitted.

  1. Open door to 90° to expose the hinge pin security grub screw, and adjuster screws.
  2. Loosen grub screw with 2mm Allen key.
  3. Using Pozi No. 2 screwdriver, rotate adjuster screws up to 90° clockwise, and 90° anti-clockwise. Turn each adjuster screw incrementally, and ensure they are set to the same rotation.
  4. Once the desired adjustment has been made, the security grub screw can again be re-tightened.
